A Message from the President of HKCBA Winnipeg
Dear HKCBA members and friends,
I would like to personally welcome you to our newly revamped website. Whether you are a corporate professional or entrepreneur working in Canada with operations in Asia; an Asian company or investor looking for opportunities in Canada, the HKCBA provides a great forum for networking and information exchange.
For the past 30+ years, the HKCBA has been working continuously to promote Hong Kong-Canada bilateral trade. Our recent milestone anniversary was a great opportunity to review our past accomplishments and look forward to greater successes.
Winnipeg was one of the founding members of HKCBA, founded in 1984 and has now grown to become a key organization within the local business community over the years. The increased focus on Canadian trade and investment with Hong Kong and Asia in the 80s and 90s resulted in the need to develop closer ties between the two regions. More recently our federal government has announced a pivot in its policies with Asia coming to the fore as a key focus of trade interest and effort. As a result, our organization is able to use these opportunities to provide a forum for our members and the business community to discuss trade issues, exchange international business best practices and promote bilateral trade policies. Today, the HKCBA is Hong Kong's largest and most active overseas trade association.
The HKCBA would not have been as successful without the support of our members and our strategic partners, including the members of our Hong Kong Family (comprised of a number of government and not-for-profit organizations as well as businesses based in Hong Kong). Our core interests remain - networking and engagement; information exchange; and, celebrating the success of Canadian companies which have successfully expanded to Hong Kong and Asia. With a reinvigorated strategy, we will revamp the events program as well as providing new services to members.
You are welcome to join us for our annual Chinese New Year Gala Supper, which is held each year. This is a exceptionally well received event and we are pleased to have you join us.
2019-20 promises to be an exciting year for the HKCBA Winnipeg Section. We invite you to join us at our events or as a volunteer to celebrate this important milestone with us! Stay tuned for more details on our events and opportunities to get involved with the HKCBA.
